You will meet Gertrud the Younger, the last Brunonin, who was not only a noblewoman but also the founder of the monastery. You will learn how the Benedictine monks lived, prayed, and worked in the cloisters – according to clear rules, with fixed rituals and a worldview all their own.
But St. Aegidien is more than just the Middle Ages: we tell the story of Louis Spohr, the world-famous composer who took his first musical steps here. And about Ephraim Lessing, the great writer and Enlightenment thinker, who pondered tolerance, reason, and humanity in the immediate vicinity.
